Mosquitoes are a type of insect that fall under the same classification as true flies, known scientifically as the Diptera order. This group is defined by insects having just one pair of functional wings. They have long, slender legs and a distinctive mouthpart called a proboscis, used for feeding. Their wings and body are often covered with tiny, scale-like hairs, and adult mosquitoes typically range in size from 3 to 9 millimeters.

Mosquitoes are among the most dangerous pests globally, known to spread life-threatening diseases such as Dengue, Malaria, Zika Virus, Brain Fever, and more. What makes them especially deadly is their ability to carry and transmit multiple viruses to humans through a single bite. The threat of mosquito-borne illnesses is particularly severe in warm and humid climates. In India, mosquito infestations usually peak during and after the monsoon season in dry regions, while in tropical and coastal areas, their numbers rise sharply in summer due to rapid breeding in hot temperatures.

Although mosquitoes are commonly associated with unclean environments, it’s not always practical for people to eliminate every breeding site, such as stagnant water or waste areas. Maintaining cleanliness helps, but professional mosquito control becomes necessary to ensure complete protection from these disease-spreading pests.
